SYNTHESIS – Training on board – Intermodal Port Terminals in Adriatic Sea and East Mediterranean sea–Project code MPO/10/058/S/SI2.588810 MARCO POLO Finance planning – 2010 Tender – Common learning actions.

PROJECT SUMMARY

The development of a “co-operation and learning network”. An innovative training method is taught both on board of ships and inland to improve the multi-modal transportation and logistics along the Adriatic sea and the Eastern Mediterranean sea.

AIMS

• To create a co-operation and learning network;

• To share the Know-how among operators;

• To tackle the road-transport current problems and promote the intermodal transport system;

• To assess the possibility of different cargo routes for freight coming from Greece: disembarking in Bari coming from Patras heading to Europe.

 SIRENA project: Backbone from Slovenia to Italy to endorse the REgional Network Accessibility to South – Eastern European Countries

PROGRAMMA DI FINANZIAMENTO – SEE SOUTH EAST EUROPE –IV CALLS – PRIORITA’ 3 “Migliorare l’accessibilità”, Misura 3.3

PROJECT SUMMARY

The SEE programme has the overall objective to support transnational co-operation in order to strengthen the integrated territorial development and enhance territorial cohesion, thus responding to the European Community priorities and needs. In this framework, the SIRENA Project addresses a specific European key issue – namely Accessibility – and aims to enhance social, economic and territorial cohesion in the Italian-Slovenian bordering areas by the removal of bottlenecks and disparities in the rail infrastructure exploitation and information flows.

GENERAL AIMS

The Italian-Slovenian bordering areas, focusing on the corridor running to Sezana, have been selected as the ideal test-axis on which the innovative SIRENA tools and work plan can be tested and deployed in order to define a common development strategy for innovative logistics solutions over SEE Countries.

 INTERMODADRIA – Supporting intermodal transport solution in the Adriatic area – second call for ordinary project proposals. Project code 2 ord. /0070/0. Under IPA CBC ADRIATICO finance plan – Second tender of ordinary projects– Axis 3 Networks and Accessibility – Measure 3.2.

PROJECT SUMMARY

The project objective is the improvement of the integration of the short sea shipping transport in the logistics chain crossing the Adriatic sea through the promotion of the multi-modal transport sector (namely, rail- sea transport services) between ports and their hinterlands. Currently, the Adriatic ports have different level of accessibility to the inland transport infrastructures: although local sea-port Authorities and national Governments have undertaken significant investment plans to increase the railway accessibility and the connection to the national railways network, not all sea-ports are being served or will be served in the medium term by rail services and transport infrastructure.

Flexible logistics solutions are highly needed to allow road-rail-ship trans-shipment operations along freight transports. A typical example is the cargo/passenger maritime transport service between the Adriatic coasts.

Therefore, this project aims to improve the implemented or ongoing infrastructural investment plans, to promote intermodal transport, to boost relevant markets, policy making and regulatory conditions.

PROJECT AIMS

  • to provide an updated picture of level of use of rail and road infrastructure by maritime and inland transport as well as an overview of the national policies over the multi-modal transport sector;
  • to provide useful information and suggestions to help the policy making and the regulation of the intermodal market;
  • to provide an analysis of the maritime freight accessibility to the TEN-T European Network and the SEETO Balkan network;
  • to promote training activities focusing on the sea-port safety and security measures for operators
  • attract young job seekers to the professional positions of seaport operators.

Under MED PROGRAMME financial cover – Target Call 2012. Objective 3.1: Improvement of maritime accessibility and of transit capacities through multimodality and intermodality.

PROJECT AIMS

MED.I.T.A project deals with transport and logistics. The main subject is the implementation of a low-cost “R-FID UHF tags” technological platform for the international freight data sharing by the international logistics partners with the aim of improving traffic, simplifying procedures and processes.

The network is tested within the MOS4MOS project sponsored by the TEN-T programme funds and deals with all transport modes.

The project involves three European countries of the MED area: Italy, Spain and Greece.
